More just an enquiry on DMX dimmer packs with the USA (edison?) sockets on them. Are these safe at all to use in the UK with 230-240v? And would they pass a PAT test (its fairly easy to get a finger between the two live pins on their plugs...

I'm not after one (whats the point when euro connectors are so much easier and readily available), but was just curious if they were actually legal / safe / etc to use in the UK.

Cheers.

I think the 110v would be an hurdle

I thought that too, but the dimmer pack is apparently rated for 240v use too.

Now I've just digested Wikipedia's dissertation on plug standards, USA sockets are only rated at 15A/125V... so don't see how this stands up.

I only ask as whilst ebay surfing i saw someone flogging a USA dimmer pack as part of a PAR CAN package puporting to be ok with UK mains. (Second hand btw). There's even a shocking close up of a terminal block in one of the gallery pics. That's just an accident waiting to happen.
