Do you get 'porn' pop-ups whilst on the DJ Forum or when you log-on to the internet first?
I am fed-up with emptying the rubbish from my email inbox everyday!!!!!

I am certainly not having any problems,a few spams on the hotmail but not on the forum

and as for the mail thingy, OMG I had 174 dud messages on Sunday
Yep. I am fed up with getting unwanted junk mail. I am constantly getting emails advertising penis enlargement and the like 
and this from is my school email address which is suposed to be filtered!! 
I won't even go into the crap that i recieve form my hotmail account!
Spaming still isn't ilegal yet is it? I think it is about time that it was.

, I get around 500 a day, and you will be glad to know that I have a full head of hair, I am now 9" longer, and I wear a 44DD bra, ah the power of the email.

I have a theory.
Since I joined the forum - my email spam has increased.
Because our email details are available to 'view' (in the postings box - if we submit one) third party spammers can instantly get hold of our mailbox.
When the forum had the chat room running - the amount of 'visitors' who logged in one night and logged off amazed me.
And I'm sure that since linking to the forum is great - maybe,and I mean maybe, the downside is spam?!
Anyone got any ideas on their own theory or a solution?

spammers mostly just type in millions of addresses.... bet you any money with all the email accounts they are gonna hit on proper addresses after a while... ie mrblogs@whereever is going to be a legit address at some stage... just delete them - its a pain i know - i average 200 per day ..... but if any of you DO want a penis enlargement... at least you have plenty of places to chose from!!!
Dan, don't be so paranoid. These guy's use random address generators, if you right click a spam and check it, there is almost every combination of address conceivable. The main rule is NEVER un subscribe, that just confirms your address is real, then they sell it. They also send out BOTS the search forums, chat rooms, websites etc., for address.
Paula, I still come here every day, but with Xmas coming up time is short. I still have about 10 kids parties that need filling + god's knows how many NYE's. I do have a NYE in Basingstoke that must be filled as a priorty, could be a good client in the future. Also a Marquee in the Bracknell area for every weekend + midweek from 28th Nov. Must be young, trendy etc, etc.

Also on the spam front, we've seen a huge increase this past week not only in the total amount of spam making it past our server filters to our mailboxes, but also a big increase in the number of spam messages containing our own (the recipient's) email address in the "from" field. We suspect some of this is being done by "spam viruses" that collect addresses from the address books of infected computers and use random names and addresses to spoof the source address. This is particularly bad because if spam is sent out with your name/address as the source, this can cause you to be placed on spam filtering blacklists and all your mail to be blocked as spam! IMO, this is a form of identity theft and should be regarded as such.

Hmmm, prove it!
Your emails are "hidden" within the DJU database, try it yourself!, the only way to send email to another member from the forum (without knowing their address) is to click on the "Email" tag.
When you send email this way, the recipient will receive an email which clearly states "(Member Name) has sent you this email from http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/index.php"
Therefore if spam bots were using the DJU forum, then (1) They would have to be registered members and (2) Every viagra email you received would start with the above message.
Further more, all email traffic from the forum is logged, and I have yet to see one spam email appear on those logs, should it ever happen then I would be the 1st person to report it to the ISP of the sender.
The only time you "risk" spam from here, is when you are as daft as Admin and put a visible Email or MSN link in your post or your signature. But even that is a safe bet and low risk since Guests can only view certain areas of the forum, and cannot view members' signatures.
It is also impossible for Spam Bots to sign up as members, thanks to the unique registration code that must be manually entered at the time of registration and Admin verification of each application.

Well Chris - I'm glad you're back!
Thanks for the reassurance and explaining how this forum is checked and protected.
