...tells you the year of a songs release?...



I'm hoping to find a website which you just ype in somewthing like "Frank Sinatra - Fly Me to the Moon" ... and the site then displays the year of release.



I know that I could go into the "discography" section which can eventually be found on most artists websites, but I'm wonderinghoping whether there's a more central source of this information.



Anyone got a website which they like to use?

Yep this is a good site, I use it for Birthday parties or anniversaries to print out all the number 1's on the relevant date since they were born/married and then play a selection on the night

www.discogs.com - it has a search option of releases, I just noticed.

I do love everyhit.co.uk, but I can't see that it shows you the year of release.

I did try entering sinatra and "fly me to the moon" in the search on discogs.com, and also into everyhit.co.uk, but neither had a suitable result - you sure it was ever actually released as a single?

Frank never released it as a single. It was first recorded by him on his "It Might as Well Be Swing" album that was released in 1964 and first hit the charts on 19th September the same year.

Thanks also to the DJU member who even emailed me a spreadsheet of his own music collection, with all the years listed alongside each track, a fantasic reference guide. I wont mention him by name, just in case theres some wierd copyright law about spreadsheets and year data (you never know...). But if that member wants to say "It was me"... with a devil-may-care bravado toward Google caching everything in sight for the next millennium - go for it...and I'll say thanks again.

There is a program called Media monkey, like itunes, it's free, and it finds and organizes all the missing information tracks have by searching Amazon Music, then updates your tracks tags automatically! Very Handy and it also finds missing album artwork to include with the track.
