Ive read the book you refer to and i think its great my advice would be to read it again a little bit at a time and practice as you go, also buy 2 of the same record and keep mixing them in to each other this way you will get a good feel for the vinyl where are you from if your any where near hants and over 16 ill maybe give ya a free lesson. what music are you trying to mix

Welcome Andrew and remember practice makes perfect! Try mixing two copies of the same track, and move on from there

Buy two records and mix them in

dont buy the same record twice! Buy two different songs with the same bpm - then graduate....... once you click you'll click and be able to mix virtually anything!

Thank you all
I have 150 12"'s so there should be some that are at least the same bpm.
i managed to get 2 the same tempo/pitch today all the way through , but i cant do it all the time
I got another record the same as one i already had off the net for a quid so i'll have ago with that as well.
thanks for the welcome ADS Entertainments and every one else.
How come you have never tried mixing then?
Here's my babies

little uncomtable to use the right deck but i'm getting used to it, no room in my box room.
cheers

Ah... so you watched Graham Norton tonight!!
When you have got the knack of running two records, try mixing with different bpms and adjusting your pitch accordingly.... I promise you, once you have got the basics you will be ok.

Welcome to the pleasuredome, ermm I mean the forum...I had a Double 40th surprise party to do last night so 80's and 90's music was very much the scene.
Going along with almost everyone else, I'd suggest the "two copies of the same track" too. If possible, have a mate deleiberately slow one deck up or down for a few seconds (without you seeing which one) and then turn around and try and bring 'em back into sync...probably more useful than it sounds.
By the way...IF you're getting hum/buzz over the speakers of yourset in the photo, you might try moving that in-line power adaptor/multi-socket, away from the mixer and decks. Some audio gear is very sensitive to power leads and sockets etc.
Happy forum'ing.
