MOVED TO TECHIE TALK

Hi, this is my first post so please bear with me.
I am newish to all this but learning all the time.
My question is :
I have just gone to active speakers with a mixer desk (previously passive and powered amp/mixer).
I now want to have mic effects through my mixer, for karaoke (current mixer has no delay, echo etc)
I need to have several mic inputs for the karaoke SO:

If I buy an effects processor, do I connect it up to my mixer (which has 8 mic inputs) and use the mics through the mixer OR do I have to use the mics through the processor inputs ?

Told you I was a newbie !!

It depends on your mixer do you have what are know as Aux sends on your desk from each channel. Might be called FX1 FX2 or Aux 1 or Mon 1 etc. And there should be a jack out corresponding to the above this goes into your FX proccessor then from your FX there might be another jack saying FX or Aux return. So you come out of the processor in to this.

With out knowing the make and model of desk it is hard to know what to advise for the best. Using active or passive speakers makes no difference to the FX unit...

Can you tell us the mixer you are using... Oh and welcome to the forum thumbup.gif
