Hi everyone, this is my first post on I'm not sure if this is the right place, if not then please move it thumbup.gif

I am currently 18 and have been DJing at parties and what not for about 18 months and was a bedroom DJ a lot longer.

However, this Friday I have taken a booking for a 40th birthday party, which will be the oldest birthday I have done so far.

So what I am asking is if anyone knows any staple tracks that I should definitely play for this age group, that I somehow haven't got, then please let me know what they are. Any other tips are also welcome.

This is also in an area I have never played in before, so I want to leave a good impression in the hope of more business.

I'm just trying to cover all my bases, so if you have the time all suggestions will be considered.

Thanks.

As a rule of thumb, work out when the birthdayboy/girl was a teen-twenties. That gives you a guide to the era they probably relate to. Ask if they have any favourite tracks/artists they would like played, another clue to personal tastes. Get a short list before the event by phone or e-mail.

After that, treat it as a normal party. Look at the age range of guests and use that to work out if you need a few older tracks on hand or a bit of chart for the youngsters and take requests on the night.

Don't assume you will be playing one era of music. Most people like a wide range for party fodder. It will probably end up with a fine variety of cheese anyway. tongue.gif

welcome to the forum, look at this thread it contains a few playlist that have been used, remember it won't work if you try to copy the list song for song,so what you need to do is learn this type of music and put some in with your own choices and request's that you get on the night.every function is different and should be treated that way, you could play a 40th tonight and have a great time and have the same sort of party tomorrow and none of the tracks work,so be prepared to go down different avenues with each booking you get.
good luck
