How much punnishment can they take? Does leaving them in a damp garage damage them? fear.gif and does the odd glass of beer destroy them? At most disco's there are glasses of beer spilling very near. I think i might put an electric fence round me stuff. You know just for safety. laugh.gif

And the award for this weeks daft question goes to........ wallbash.gif

Seriously, any liquid around anything electrical is a big no no nono.gif . Beer, just like water can conduct and create short circuits and a risk of damage to either the speaker or amp driving them.

Yes, I have known the majority of speakers survive small amounts of beer spilled on them, but like running an electrical item next to a bath, its not something you'd encourage or risk.

Speaker cones are made of material, which is treated, however like cardboard they can still absorb liquid and the preformance become impaired because of it. If you spill a large amount of any fluid onto a speaker cone, better to repair it as soon as economically viable.

Yes, (a lot of) damp can damage and discolour speaker drivers, as it can also corrode the circuits in crossovers and the coils in compression drivers and loudspeakers over a period of time.

I agree beer works better on the Dj than the speakers or mixer deck

Sorry i obviously didnt explain.

You might think it's a daft question to ask but it's a valid question which i got my answer (thanks Chris)

Comming the cold weather the garage is getting a bit nippy. I was just concered and thought i would ask the question.

It's my bass bins that have had the punnishment, I class these as speakers.
The full range sit on top of the bins. No one has given them a little drink..........yet. pepsi.gif

Might get some of that electric tape that they use round horse fields....... tongue.gif
