Okay so I'm just getting into this and I'm curious is there anything wrong with the dj box kits?

ummm, dj box kits.

are we talking dj packages, "dj in a box" type things? wacko.gif

If you are, depending on what sort of kit your after, there will always be short cuts to bring down the price, eg, cheap and nasty headphone speakers etc... let me know what sorta "kit" ur after, bearing rules in mind rolleyes.gif

Well i want to get into mixing and scratching and stuff like that.I'm just getting into this so i'm not sure what i need.

If your 'box kit' has direct drive turn tables (vinyl) or a tempo adjuster for CD mixing - I think there are a number of 'packages' around to buy - but there will be a difference between the 'high street shop' package and a dedicated DJ package from a Disco Shop.

Why not ask CSL (Chris, Admin) what he would suggest.

Well, scraching, the cheaper option is to use vinyl (turntables) as cd player's with the "scratch" facuilty, are much deerer than vinyl!.

Although there are advantages and disadvantages, with both cd and vinyl players. the best way is to firstly read my mixing guide (in mix'scratch section of forum) stateing the ad's and dis' with each and make ur own mind up to which is best to you.

In regards to your equipment dilemma, ask chris, (chris pointon-admin of forum) for deals on each.

Have you tried a mates decks or something? If you're wanting to scratch you'll want to get direct-drive decks as they have more torque and are much easier to scratch on as belt-driven decks are just about impossible to scratch on and are hard to mix on.

I did a short DJ course to help myself decide whether DJ'ing was for me. I enjoyed it lots and now I'm saving for some technics 1200's smile.gif I was like you at the start thinking about those box deals, but you'll need to upgrade at some time if you stick with it.

My advice with box deals would be to get at least some direct drive turntables. The mixer won't be great, but it'll be enough for basic mixing / scratches.
