Any chance of seeing a few connection diagrams for connecting setup's together say for 2 x amps,4 x speakers and the like's. Or could one of the audio wizzards on the forum email me or please write the dummy's guide to audio connections.
Gary
Hmmm, always a tricky thing, connections. Difficult to offer examples which would mean something worth knowing, in all situations.

For example. You mentioned 2 x amps. Were these amps both hearing the same signal from the mixer, or was one amp just playing the Bass into 2 x Bass speakers, and the other amp just playing into 2 x mid/top or Full-range speakers?

Well Gary, that's the sort of thing i would like to learn,at the moment i have 1 amp 400w @ 4 oms and just two speakers but was considering a new amp and some bass speakers.

If you're totally new to this kinda thing, I'd leave getting extra amps and stuff untill you've got a good working knowledge of how it all fits.

Connections is one of those how long is a piece of string questions, 1/4 inch jack, fono, xlr and on and on it goes.

I'll leave it to one of the techno folks on here, I know how it works but explaining it is another matter.

Good luck

Don't forget that if you're using 2 amps to drive 2 sets of speakers you will also need an active crossover unit to separate the signal into the 2 amps otherwise you will have the full frequency going into both of them.

I used to use a fixed xover unit but earlier this year changed it to a Behringer stereo 3 way/mono 4 way with adjustable crossover frequencies and limiters. This allows me to balance the inputs to the amps to give the correct sound output (which is different for every venue). I've never had to use the mono 4 way but, depending on size of rig, I switch between the 2 & 3 way crossover (for 2 or 3 amps). So my advice to anyone buying one of these is look for the flexibility aspect.

I just purchased a Behringer DX1000 mixer which has a seperate output for bass speakers straight away..

Fantastic way of not having to purchase a cross over as well....

Well I think so... biggrin.gif Saves me work!!
