I know the story between Mad lighting and Abstract.

The question am asking though is about Mad. Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with these lights. Am looking to change mine to Mad. I would like to go brand new with the abstract stuff but purchasing new comes with a large price tag.

Am looking at the lights with the discharge lamps not the halagen.

Which MAD lights? Define what you're trying to evaluate. MAD is just a badge of Abstract these days.

I have used these several times. I particularly liked the magician light. Well built, but rather expensive. Some good buys to be had second hand on these lights.

I`ve just bought 1 Mad colour. The ones with the discharge lamp... I want 4 eventually. I could just buy the 4 abstract but they come with a £300 + each price tag..

With the original question i was just wondering about the build quality etc. With lights there is a big difference in quality eg , soundlab and Martin.

I understand discharge lamps are brighter and the colours are more clearer. Oh and to replace the lamp is a lot more expensive but will last a lot longer (6000 hrs).

Anyone got the Mad spins or scanners?

The MAD Colour is a pretty good light, this is manufactured by Abstract anyway...ditto the Mad Spin...so asking if they are better or worse than Abstract is a dud question!!

Like I said before they've been rebadged Abstract XP now.
