I have agreed to compare a wedding show at a local hotel next week.

I gather it's a small catwalk type presentation, and should be easy to do.

Any suggestions to the type of music which you play at these events for the catwalk part?

Hi Rob

Check with the bridal company as they may provide a ready mixed CD for you

good idea Nick. If they haven't any suggestions, just in case?

OK just to get this started.

I'm visualising the "pace" of the catwalk models here and the fact that they are probably looking for an ambience of "serene sophistication" for such an event. Something with a rich/warm feeling but nothing with too much beat and nothing too slow either is how I'd envisage it.

So here goes, something like:

Roxy Music - Avalon
and how about Charlie Rich - The Most Beautiful Girl - for bridal gowns?
Pointer Sisters - Slow Hand
Cranberries - Dreams
Elton John - Nakita
Enya - Orinoco Flow
Erasure - Blue Savannah
Gerry Rafferty - Right Down The Line
Kristian Leontiou - Shining
Lighthouse Family - Ocean Drive
Phil Collins - You'll be in my heart
Wilson Phillips - You're In Love
Dolores O'riordan - Ordinary Day
Hothouse Flowers - Don't Go
Norah Jones - Be My Somebody
Richard Hawley - Tonight The Streets Are Ours
Ross Copperman - Found You
Seal - Amazing
Sia - Day Too Soon
Queen & Paul Rodgers - Say It's Not True
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Please Read The Letter

c'mon, there must be something in all that lot surely? smile.gif

Well now Robin....

Not sure I can help with the catwalk bit, but have just successfully completed my first run by us wedding fayre!

That's a wedding fayre put on and promoted by me!

Am on cloud 9 with all the silver linings now - was a HUGE success!

So if you need "background music" for non-catwalk times, I used a selection of:

Classical - romantic classics and that kind of stuff, not forgetting Pacabels Cannon (although spelt wrong I think).

Swing (always goes down well at wedding shows)

Light pop - love songs etc...

Any more help, give me a buz.

Anyone thinking of running there own fayre - GO FOR IT!

My first feeling, which I omitted above, was that you would have to do a run-through with the catwalk director for this one. Can you attend a rehearsal before the event, laptop in hand?

I'd imagine the tempo for a catwalk show would have to be critically matched to how the director wants it paced. It would look rather silly if the models' timing didn't match the music. Or if it failed to match, the music would be seen to be irrelevant background noise.

Like Nik, the music will more than likely be already been chosen aand prepared on a CDR. Be a bit surprised if they haven't already practised and chosen music.
Do let us know how the event goes.

Not sure am posting to late here.

I personally (if not asked) play some good upbeat music that you would play to get your punters up dancing at a gig.

I have had many a bookings at wedding fayres due to the bridal show`s audience enjoying the music I played during the bridal show.

then dont take it on your shoulders mate.... They are the ones demoing there outfits, and if there like the bunch I did it for you might not even get a thankyou...

If they dont prepare anything and it goes wrong they WILL blame YOU!!!

Bridal people seem to be highly strung and its never there fault.. If you have agreed to provide a PA for them then fine but they should have provided the music as said above they should have rehursed to it..

It should be timed so they have a change in mood ie music at the right time etc...

How about the cloths show theme...
and any other up beat instrumentals seem to work well for me, the likes of Alantic Ocean - Waterfalls.
RonanRaver
Youssou Ndour / Neneh Cherry - Seven Seconds
