Well, we have some asian djs aboard, so they should be able to help out.

Personally I wouldn't do a full night asian wedding, but if they just want some asian music a bit of Bhangra (HMV do a few good comps) and Bollywood will be OK.

I do some council shows where they ask for multi-cultural music and have happily mixed bhangra/ turkish/ r&b to great success.

you really need to find out what they mean by asian
ive done a few functions of different asian types

if you get it wrong it can become a right headache

they really need to be more specific before you can
really make any moves

Yes, playing through tracks and noting the tempo of each gives you a good start. Then mixing is easy.

Only problem is I don't know what the heck they are singing about! huh.gif

HI there Cheesey

I am one of those DJ's who specalises in Asian & English Weddings

Firstly you will need to know what sort of wedding it is

Punjabi
Muslim
Hindi
Gujrati
Bangledeshi

Although a lot of the time is taken by Photographs & Food, I would say have at least 4 hours of Hindi/Bollywood Background music

Bhangra Music is the main for Pubjabi, I have found that not so much dancing at Muslim or Bangledeshi Weddings

Want anymore info drop me a PM

Hope this helps

I did my first asian wedding last year.

It's really really not a big deal and don't get hung up over playing the right music. My client provided me with a "mix cd" one of there friends had produced which we used for about half an hour during the evening. The rest was the clients choice of western tracks.

It was a great night, but my advice from that experiance would be that because it's an asian wedding, don't think it's just about asian music. As with all weddings, the key to getting it right is lots of dialogue and communication with your clients. They will know what they like and they will be able to tell you what specific asian music they would like.

It's also worth finding out a little more about the whole day - theo one I did ran a lot differently to a traditional western wedding - there are different ceremonies and things did seem to take a lot longer than a normal wedding.

But I can't say it enough - talk to the client!
