I picked up a good set in Asda, a compilation of big band sounds. with Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Andrew Sisters etc.
Another one is the Goodnight Sweetheat triple cd from the TV series.
Also of course, Glen Miller.
I have done at least 2 shows where the music had to be 1940's, one for VE day and one a wedding anniversary where they all came in 40's outfits.

Can I also suggest that if you want some more rockin tunes from the 40's with a slightly more edgy feel get some Louis Jordan. Tracks like Choo Choo Ch'Boogie, Saturday Night Fish Fry. Early Fats Domino "The Fatman". Boogie Woogie tracks from Meade Lux Lewis and Albert Ammons. "Chicken Shack' by Amos Milburn is brilliant. All great tracks for dancing to and available on cd too!

And.....if you search well, you will also find many CDs that carry 40s music from THIS side of the Atlantic!!!!
