Hi...I want to buy a Dual CD player shortly and have narrowed my choices down to two. Both are Numark units (within my budget), the cheaper of the two being one I have seen recommended here once or twice.
The first one is the
CDN 22 which I've been able to price at roughly €160 delivered.
The second is the
MP103 which is the more expensive unit at roughly €260 delivered.
Bearing in mind that this is a beginner kit and will probably end up being upgraded in the next year or two..am I wiser spending the extra hundred euro and going for the better spec'd MP103. The MP3 playback (from a disc) sounds interesting.
Both of those prices are for B-stock units, which I don't really have a problem with as they both come with full 12 month warranties.
I noticed that they are both discontinued on the Numark website. Is that usually a problem?
If any of the more experienced people out there could point out any obvious advantages/flaws I'd be eternally grateful.
Thanks
Robbie

Be careful with B stock, a mate of mine recently had to send 3 Numark units back because of various problems ie no power/one of the drawers not working. It could be that these were a damaged batch.
Other people though highly recommend them.
The MP3 version looks better the extra cash. i would buy that one.
Personally, I have found Stanton, Citronic and Denon ultra reliable.

If this is beginner kit you could look toward the Numark CDMIX 3.
From a German website about 250 with a case. All in one unit - not complicated - doesnt have many features but will play MP3 machines.
When you upgrade will make a great all in one backup for mixer and decks.
PS - and its light!

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Norfolk DJ... I'm thinking along the same lines myself..it does look like the better value.
Jools... I already have a Behringer Mixer (PMH1000) so probably the CD Mixer would be paying for something I already have right?
Just wish I could find something that played CD's, CDG's and Karaoke DVD's in the one unit AND cost less than €300 ...heheh!! Not asking for much am I...!!
The MP3 end of it I'm not really concerned about right now...and I'd rather do CD's than go the controller MP3 route my first time out. I'd like to learn to work with CD's before I jump into laptops or controllers etc...
Anyway..thanks again for the input. Much appreciated.

If you can stretch your budget by another £49 have a look at the Citronic MPCD4, which has lots more features, including master tempo/keylock.
It's available new - not B stock - for £329 from several retailers.

Thanks Spinner...the prices I quoted though are Euros...so quite a difference in price and outside my current budget unfortunately...but will put that in my notebook for future reference ...

Just ordered the Numark MP302 ..which is the updated version of the MP300 as far as I can see.
Now I have to wait till the man in the van arrives at my door....hate waiting..hehe!!
Thanks for the input again guys

Ive got the Numark CDN22 and its a brilliant unit IMHO
Does exactly what it should do - and tocuh wood its never let me down yet
Also with the display being of decent size and very clear i find it easier to read, compared to other units on the market.

Thank mattaious :)
Hopefully the MP302, being from the same manufacturer with a few more bells and whistles, it will be just as reliable.
Can't wait to get it now...
Is like Christmas is here again early...hehe~!!

Just wanted to add that I received the Numark MP302 and am very impressed with it. Still playing around with the different function buttons and haven't even looked at the MP3 end of it yet. It seems a fairly sturdy player, looks the part and works fine so far.
Have only really done straightforward fading/mixing so far, but looking forward to figuring out the loop and stutter functions and having a little fun with it...
Anyway, happy with my decision so far. Just need to line up a few small gigs to get that all important experience

If i wear you i would miss all of those and go for the kcdmix100 it is a duel cd player with a built in mixer and crossfader with all ports needed at back of kit. It is also very atrctive and easy to use.

Have you considered a guaranteed, second hand Denon? That way you get a workhorse that won't really need upgrading unless you break it yourself! They appear from time to time on various websites as refurb pulls and are usually good value. They'll usually last longer than a new budget machine.

I wouldt touch b stock if i was you..
if your getting a rack mount cd player i would go for a mp3 verison as you can make jukebox mp3 dvd discs using software like sonic which will hold like afew 100 tunes.many thanks
