Did not know there was a twister 5, thought the mk 4 was the latest.

the Datamoon is a pretty old effect now. it was in its day the best moonflower on the market but competition has since caught up and surpassed it. The EVL Spins are a much better effect for a little more money,

twister 4s are a great investment for starting up.... good effects and they wont break the bank.

I have two twister 4's thumbup.gif connected together, great lighting effect, there is enough variety there with strong beams of light from the 250 watt bulb.

... yeah.. I link mine too and they certainly do the trick.

Hi

EVL Spins, gotta be, they're the muts nuts, the wasps nipples, etc.

im starting out,and have ordered two njd datamoons!! ,is there anything i should know about them?i assume all leads will be supplied???and whats this about a controller????do i need one??if no wallbash.gif t how do they operate exactly??
Chrispy
I still use the NJD Datamoons, I still also have a lot of the Mk1's still in use - circa 1996 - 1997 and this is a tribute to their reliability. The built in switchable lamp extender (which when used Extends a simple standard 50 hour A1/259 to 300 hours is also a bonus, fit a 500 hour extended life ELC-5 and you'll get anything upto 2000 hours between lamp changes) Some of my existing Datamoons have outlasted other, more expensive effects twice over.

There are other DMX Effects also to consider, if you are thinking budget then consider 2 DMX Vista's, again fan cooled 250 Watt effects, DMX Controlled, Master - Slave Linkable and 15 colours / gobos. Currently only £199.00 per PAIR which includes a link lead and Lamps.

Abstract Twister 4's are also a good deal, although more expensive.

Lighting is always going to be a personal choice, and better to Listen to advice on this forum, but then view the effects if possible to make sure that they do what your expect / want them to do. smile.gif

From me you do, yes!. I include link leads with all pairs of compatible effects, to allow master-Slave links directly out of the box. A link lead will be forwarded to you, once you tell me what length of lead you would like? 2mtr, 5mtr, or 10mtr?, if you are using them on the same stand then a 2m will often be enough.

I wouldnt bother with a controller at this stage, not for 2 effects, contollers usually come into their own with 4 effects or multiple DMX effects on large rigs. I always say that there is more to gigs than flashing lights and the "newbie" to the business has enough to learn with regard to being behind the decks, rather than spending hours playing with / programming lighting smile.gif . Master - Slave will syncronise your effects to music with no manual intervention - instant lightshow smile.gif

If you are just starting out you could always considering hiring different lights before you buy - or invest in secondhand - dont rely on the lights to sell you as a dj.... after you get the initial "oh great lights" all the punter is interested in is what you play. Wait til you start earning a few quid and invest in something decent from crispy who does a mean Mr Kipling.... exceedingly good offers!

if he supplies the leads, don't ask him for discount
