just bought one of these
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?Module...y=7m12#overview

it should give me more options on lighting as i can use the arms differently to just my t bars.

will buy their goalpost next week good value at 60.00

Are they any good?

Ive got a pair of cheap light stands that are very limited to what they can hold (maybe a a set of Magic Gobos at each end any thing else added then they topple over)

And Ive got a DJ Stand with a Lighting bar which holds quite a lot but some gigs I dont really need the stand but need all my lights.

Do you think this stand youve just got would hold a pair of Magic Gobos & an ImpossiLED?

seems solid to me mark nice thick tubing not the inch square stuff. i also bought some more clamps at 4.99 while there save messing about with bolts.
open the legs wide and you got a nice stable base.
my advice pop to maplins and have a nosey they got them on display at my one i assume they have the same displays elsewhere.

Excellent buy

I bought 2 of these 7 years ago and still use them when a quick compact set up is required ie not enough time to use the goal posts.

I use the main t-bar only.

I like them becuase they are light weight but very heavy duty and durable.

I think I paid about £30 each for them and worth every penny.

maplins are also doing a t bar stand for £14.99

i have got t bars too but find the bolts a pain in the butt. and if i load the bar first it's a difficult job to lift it on with all the lights on it.

with the tubing so thin i dont like to trust the clamps.

from what i remember they do 2 versions. The smaller looker version is a waste of time for DJ's, as it's not robust enough for life on the road.

I got one the same as Rictic but and only use the T ar. The £14.99 can't hold as much weight.

spot on Tony.

The bigger version holds 4 good sized lights, but must be reasonably balanced each side. You also need to use G clamps to make life easier

I wouldnt be without my goalpost, all of my lights neatly contained in one place with a twin blade on each bass bin.

Now I might sound thick, but what are they?

I own both and think those maplin heavy duty t stands are great value and very flexible. Tend to use them more frequently than my goalposts.
