I reguarly play the Dolly Parton 9 to 5 remix, which is fairly popular.
The Sheena Easton track is on several 'school disco' type albums. I have never been asked for it, but maybe it's popular, i don't know!!!!
Does anyone play it?
Is it popular?

I had a request for it last summer, and surprisingly it didn't clear the floor, but it's not a track I'd play unless it was asked for, or unless it was an 80s night

I played it on Saturday night at an 80's/90's themed evening. I didn't risk playing it when people were on the dance floor but while people were standing in the bar waiting to eat. Actually it sounded quite good and people were tapping their feet to it.

Only ever played it twice - and both those times were requests and for the same group of people, one year on and it worked really well then...
Similarly to everyone else, I don't think it's beaty enough to work in its own right...

It's peculiar how this subject has come up!
On Saturday we were doing an 18th and my son asked who did 9 to 5 and I told him Dolly P, for some reason we couldn't find it and only found Sheenas version. He listened to it on the cue and decided not to play it because it wouldn't have fit in at the time.
The thing is that it must be 2o years since I ever heard SheenaEaston mentioned and now is twice within a few days. Deja Voux.

This is really weird. I dreamt about this record last night ... and this post was after I woke up. Is there some sort of parallel universe going on or something ?

The Dolly Parton version of 9 to 5 is a different song to the Sheena Easton one, they just have the same title.

I think the Sheena Easton song is called "Morning Train".
"9 to 5" are lyrics from the chorus.

the song title was changed for the american release to avoid any confusion with the dolly parton version.dollys version is about an office worker working 9 to 5 while sheena's is about a woman waiting at home for her man to return from his 9 till 5 job

The Sheena version on the Reflex 80's Bar media server and its listed as Morning Train (Nine to Five) just like that. I never played it, I found it too slow. However the other song by Dolly Parton 9 to 5 (from the film of the same name) goes down very well and a hi-nrg mix is sometimes heard in local commercial nightclubs.

Hmm....... Strange that it appears on these 'School Disco' type albums. Might try it early on at a family style party.
