You need to hop over to www.denondjforums.com
Apparently it is possible to upgrade the firmware via the internal hard disk as well as a usb stick / drive.
I would wait a few days as new firmware is just about due. Current version is V1100. New Version is V1200 expected this weekend / early next week.

Its possible that "china made" generic brands don’t follow USB control driver specs to the letter, thus causing incompatibilities. Stick with major brands and they should work and perform just fine.

first of all make sure the pen drive is blank..
copy just the .bin file to the root of the pen .. no folders ok..
unplug all the other USB devices and plug the pen into the HD2500 directly... not via the hub ok..
turn hd2500 on holding the buttons down as discribed in the instructions..
now take your time lots of people miss read what they have to do next you want to be pressing the correct buttons and the firmware will load..

When you have put the tunes on the memory stick, have you done it through the Denon Music Manager? If not, that is why it doesn't work.
Try reformatting the USB stick as Fat32,
Then fire up Denon music manager
Select the Memory stick as the device
Then add some tunes
Then try it in your HD2500, should work then, if not, I suspect your Memory stick may be faulty.

good advice so far, and quite possibly you've got this working already but... here's a couple of extra ideas.
If you put music files on the pen drive in question - does the 2500 see the music files ?
Next...if you connect your 2500 to the pc using USB A to B (like a printer USB cable) and put the 2500 into PC mode (Source button on 2500 then rotate paramter knob to "PC"), you should then see the 2500 appear on your PC as a new external drive.
Copy the upgrade BIN file from your PC to the 2500 internal drive, and run the update from that.

Are you following the instructions to the letter. I upgraded mine a few weeks back and it'd be impossible unless you had the instructions in front of you.
I had a memory stick come with mine. Not sure if Denon supplied it or the shop but if Denon supply them then compatibility shouldn't be an issue. If it is, you can also upgrade via the internal HD. It's all in the instructions.

I think your pen drive is just not compatible and you should give up on that method, try to buy a name brand type.

The denon Hub was just a first buyer promotion in EU, they do not come with it any longer.

I received a PNY 1gb stick with mine. If you get one of those it should work.
But, I'd try doing it via the internal HD first.

Hmmm update as said eirlier took my hd2500 out last weekend without updating my firmware and all weekend went great well pleased . Then this weekend updated the firmware latest update 19 nov went out this weekend and the machine had a mind of its own or at least had developed a little glitch after spendind time sorting out cue points and pitch/speed etc start mixing and then the track i started would randomly stop (not always mind you just maybe 5-6 times in a 3 hour set ) and then ramp up slowly back to where it should have been while the punters are lookin at me with that what are you doing look lol anybody else had this ??? any info ??? help

What source was that/those track(s) on? eg: External hard drive / Internal Drive / Pen Drive / Ext. MP3 player? / Flash card etc.
The "slow play" that you mention is
usually witnessed when an external hub or drive is "woken up" from it's sleep mode. Sometimes, this can't be fixed with some makes/models of external drive/hub, but some drives can be programmed (whilst hooked up once, to a pc) to defiantly resist going into sleep mode.
Also defragging the external hard drive(s) can help avoid the slow-start on some drives with un-defeatable sleep modes.

Take caution with this. From bitter experience mirrored by others on PC forums, I personally wouldn't advise defragging external (USB) hard drives as, bizzarely, it can cause the drive to
fail. An alternative is to copy all files from the external drive onto a backup drive, reformat the external, then copy the files from the backup drive onto the external.

Indeed. Basically defragging via USB is to be avoided, however drives that are usually used externally can in alot of cases be removed from their external casing, and put into the PC for the defrag operation to be performed. I've even found a hard drive cradle which looks a little like a mobile phone desktop stand/charger, which you just slide the bare drive into. The drive is then powered and data'd - The same "don't degrag over USB" guideline applies, but if such cradles come out in E-sata or Firewire versions, then this might be an idea.

well thats sunday over think i can rule out the sleep thing on the drive cause i was using the same drive for song after song so it wouldnt have had a chance to sleep only happened 1 mind you which was better but still 1 too many lol it really does seem software related it is the same effect as if you have the key button to stay the same and pitch at +-100 then slow it way down and start to speed it up again slowly great lil effect if you mean to do it but not when yopur not expecting it lol just monday to go then will try defrag and clearing the db and creating a fresh db see if that helps ??? so take it no-one else has found this

I doubt its the firmware. I've been using the firmware (1200) for over a month with no pitch (or other) problems.
What make/model and capacity is the external drive. It's powered yes? Not just pulling operating power off the USB connection?. Cooling fan on ext.drive? Also, make a note of the 1 song that have you a problem this time, and think if there was any particular timing to the problem eg: After 99 minutes of play or "when drive temperature reached...." (if the ext drive casing features a temp display.)
A good idea for a soak test is to set up a long playlist (99 tracks in a playlist will give you over 6.5 hours of music to test by) - I've known of at least one DJ who played their playlist at home, and found that their external drive had stopped after exactly the same time (eg: Xhours, XXminutes) into any playlist. But...when they used different external drives (different make/model), the problem wasn't repeated.

ps gary im guessin youre mostly the denon guy would it be easier to pm you instead of draging it out on the forum although it may be educational for others in the future ?

easy, did you re-create a new database with version 1100 or 1200 ?
Are you mis-matching firmware and Music Manager versions?
See this chart:
http://denondjforums.com/index.php?name=PN...opic&t=8016Are you using a powered Hub?

Agree with Denon above, this sounds like a Database mismatch. Update your music manager software. You can tell which version you have by clicking on "Help" in the Music manager.
