Hi I am just building up a music collection at the moment and I was wondering what the best reasonably priced compilation cds which cover the 80s and the 90s. Are the Now/Now Millenium/Now Anniversary cds good? I have looked at some dj only cds but they seem very expensive for not a lot of music compared to the Now ones.

try car boot sales, you will find a lot of people selling old cd's down there.make a sensible/silly offer for the lot and you can get a bargain.remember to make sure they are original cd's,they contain the cd's they are meant to contain and check they havent been cleaned with a brillo pad(sratched to bits in other words).you can pick up old now cd's from as little as 50p to £1.look on ebay and amazon.
Swingcats
yes carboot sales are the place to go, look for 'best of albums' as well as compilations, Now CD's etc. Even doing it that way and on e-bay it will add up to about £300 before you have a good selection. You do need to test each track though as sometimes one or tow may not play, or worse play 95% then go belly up.

Charity shops too.

If you are choosy about what DJ discs you buy, they can be good value for money. Certain ones I use nearly every weekend are:

Jock In A Box Mastermix
Pop Box Matermix
Soul Box Mastermix
RnB DMC
some classic cuts ones Mastermix

So have a good look first and think about having a few to always fall back on.

As for buying in second hand shops, don't bother as the quality can be terrible. Use internet sites such as CDWOW and PLAY247 for cheap new cds

There's a one of these Cash Generator type shops down my local high street, got a ton of 90's stuff cheap cheap..... As long as you check the disc condition ou should be fine.

yes i think that charity shops are a good sorce of cheap material and i have bought a number of now cd,s from these places, but i will echo o previous comment about examining the disc condition first before you make the purchase.

Id consider the fleabay route, always cheap cd's about there.

Charity shops are also a good thing

Infact it may be worth visiting one of those "cash convertor" places, Cheap cd;s but ensure you check the condition of the discs first.

Agree with Matt that the fleebay option is a good one. Go for the NOW & Hits albums.

HMV have started some very good cheap 70-90's double albums for £6 recently and are worth looking at.

The School Disco collection is also very good value.

Yep some of these are rather good, but half the tracks are 'studio groups'.

I used the Time Life 70s 80s & 90s sets to bulk my collection. Then we bought a job lot of kit off a DJ who had had enough of the hard work after 6 months, which contained the Mastermix 70s 80s & 90s Night sets.

Got just about everything covered now.

There was a chap selling ex-jukebox CDs (Nows etc) on eBay, I think there was a link on here somewhere (although it may have been another forum)

And it is still on here (somewhere) although it's no longer pinned so I suspect he's probably sold them all (they were converting from CD to HD jukeboxes).

The one I've used in the past is nowmusicmoviesandgames http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/nowmusicmoviesandgames/ . They regularly have ex juke box CD's for sale including Now sets

take a look at this

http://www.cdpool.com/dsp_tracklist.aspx?ProductID=709

this single box set could get most good DJs through a night without the customers noticing that you only had a few CDs.. add volume 2 and volume 1 and your sorted...

also dont forget the free 100 dance floor fillers set you get when your order and maybe top up with some other box sets and you have a good starting point for a mobile disco...
