This playlist was for a wedding I did the other week. Some things to note:
The client wanted full control of the playlist. I agreed to this - there was around 6 hours worth of music on the list they gave me.

The list list was split into - Must Play - Nice To have - Don't mind if not used.

The bride's father had recently passed away, and she wanted a small part of the evening to have music he liked. He loved Trad Jazz. He also loved 'Duelling Banjos' So I needed to fit these in.

There were guests from Australia, Israel, Greece & France, so Certain songs had to be fitted in.

Apart from that I could do as I wanted!

BTW - The wedding went really well and I had loads of people thank me for a great evening at the end.

that is your opinion and of course you are entitled to it, to be honest with you that is a request we get on the same saturday every year by the same couple.every year this couple come by themself sit in the same spot and have a good time dancing just enjoying each others company you could not ask to meet a nicer couple,they ask for one song every year (which is special to them and we will play it for them, as the song is not offensive) as a matter of fact the dancefloor was packed before ,during and after the song and we never had 1 complaint about it

Why not when it's ok for DJs to play music by the likes of Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse? I'd be more worried about the message the likes of Doherty and Winehouse send out to our younger generation that you can abuse class 'A' drugs and still be revered. Even though there is still no excuse for the disgusting perversions of him and his ilk, Far more lives are ruined by drugs than by the likes of Gary Glitter.

Very interesting playlist, one of my residencies is owned by an Irish couple and quite a number those tracks on the list I frequently play.

However one of them said to me that U2 is not considered to be a real Irish group by many of their countrymen because they have never given anything back to their homeland. and wouldn't expect, or want them played on an all Irish themed night. Have you ever come across that opinion before or is it just one person's small minded view.

I appreciate theres no U2 on that playlist, but could any Irish out there or a specialist like Robbiedj enlighten me further.

Seeing as you never got an answer and I'm new here and from Ireland I thought I'd have a go.
I'm not a big U2 fan myself but have recently noticed quite a backlash against them now that the
country is going to the dogs with the recession. Apparently most of theit earnings are taxed in
europeantax haven and they are getting stick for that. Also, a few years ago they were supposed
to play a big free gig in the phoenix park, dublin which never materialised so that didn't go down
well. And, I suppose, people just got sick of listening to Bono on his soapbox. Hope that helps!

Ive been a member now for yonks but havnt really contributed much so thought i would make the effort.

I've got the Sir Mix-a-lot version plus I've got his Heavy Metal version as well which is quite entertaining, especially if the night is taking a more rock orientated shape. I sometimes mix it into the normal version after the first chorus and mix it out after the next for a bit of a variation.
