Its time for some new headphones!
I recently bought the skull candy TI ones they were £50 or so and my second pair in 2 months have just broke again!, just started crackling, then next week they were ok then just stopped working!

So its time for something better, im willing to spend a bit more money, what you recon?

sennheiser HD25 every time :)

The only cheap item of equipment I have are my headphones, which are now 10 years old and cost me a fiver.

I always buy cheap headphones, Only reason is they get battered around in the box i keep them in, Wouldnt spend a fortune on headphones, If i did though and they broke or got damaged id be gutted.

Infact i still have the old "phone" in me box, Sometimes use it for a nostalgic evening

I use a set of either Kam or Numark phones, dirt cheap and no problems with them.

Yes I used to have one of those, it was great.

Senny HD25's. Been everywhere with me for the past 2 years, dropped, stood on, abroad, drink spilt on them, no probs at all, plus all the bits are user replacable if required.

I have both the HD25s and the denon ones...

I always find my self going back to the HD25s... cant fault them...

Just waiting for somone to break my HD25s so i can get the Mk2 version... problem is i cant seem them breaking any time soon...

I don't know if I'm missing a point somewhere, but why pay £100-150 for a pair of headphones for DJ use?
The purpose of our headphones are for cueing tracks, a £10 pair do the same job.
They don't need to have the most precise harmonic response, after all the fact that your rig is belting out 2k of bass will mean that the ambient noise will overwhelm the extra little bit of frequency that they replicate.
The fact that some people use or used 'telephone' handsets shows you dont need quality.

Well I'm looking to pick up a set of headphones now..

So do I splash out and buy the sennheisers or go budget (which financially speaking is more realistic at the moment).

If I go the budget route..is there a half decent budget set that someone can recommend that will do me for the first few months or so ?

i mix so i need good headphones, used sony for years but they tend to fall apart after about a year, at the moment i have stantons and they seem very good but so they should be at 180 squids.

Just go straight for a pair of more expensive ones. It will save you money in the long run (wish I had done many years ago).

I have been using sony MDR-V700's for just over a year now and can not fault them.

Cannot fault HD 25's. I had the same dilemma bout 18 months ago and took other people advice on here and went for the senny's. I agree that not everyone is willing to fork out such money for headphones, but I see it as an investment. Even got the nice little carry bag to protect them with mine for £125. I see the mark II's are out now. I would 100% recommend these headphones
