OK, cast your minds back.
What is your most popular music format used in 2001, 2004, 2007?

Had to vote "other" for 04/07 as I use OTS and the ots file format is unique to them, not an mp3.

I think that with the cost of hard drives now being dirt cheap, and still plummeting, future polls will need to include full, uncompressed WAV files.
Sure they're 10 times larger than a compressed MP3, but with the above comment about hard driv capacity/price ratio taken into account, that doesn't matter anymore, and less every week it seems.
Add to this, that Tunes rip considerably faster to WAV than to MP3 (no encoding for the processor to worry its innerds about during the rip) and that some programs and dedicated hardware are now utilising the almost forgotton ID3 tagging capabilities of WAV, its a format that's got a lot going for it - not least of which, an end to the 5 year long, DJ dilemma of "will anyone notice if I educe the sound quality -this- far?"

I voted CD for 01, 04 and mp3 for 07 - But as Gary says I would've selected WAV instead...
Although I still love my CDs and use them when I can, the ease of carrying the same number of tracks on a tiny HD appeals no end... Plus I love my HD2500

Although I voted for Cd's in 2001, which was my most popular format then, I was until 2001 still using my beloved Citronic Avon with a couple of CD players racked above it. Excellent. The records finally went then.
