I have had the best speakers in the World and they have done me proud for five years.
However they are now beginning to look tatty. The sound from them is superb so I am loathed to change them.Couldn't find anyone to recover them and not being very practical i'm bound to make a pigs ear of them if I try myself.
Yorkshire.....any ideas please.

I'm sure you can find one of the local disco/band/audio hire shops that will recover them.
Maplins might sell the vinyl and a tub of evo stick.
Alternately sell them and buy some more.
I would get them recovered myself though.

i am glad your speakers are recovering, so sorry to hear that had been ill.
seriously tho. evo stick do a spray on contact adhesive, find a material shop and get some black or grey serge or whatever its called. the covering bit is easy cut all pieces first about half inch or so oversize, do the sides first and the top and bottom last . use hospital corners and cornert protectors to hide the folds.
the spray glue is great, spray the cloth and the cabs, leave till dry then voila! as they touch they set solid.any seams can be stuck to their selves and will not come open with the evo stick. DO NOT sniff the glue as then you WILL make a pigs ear of it.

lol its just a neat way of folding or if using corner protectors you can just snip the material off leaving a small 'v' so as not to leave a lump in the cloth.
or consider a dam good sanding and a few coats of good black paint.

Sorry to resurect this dinosaur, but I know a man in Barnsley that is more than capable of doing the deed, whether he will or not would be down to your persuasive tactics.
I used to be in business with him making speakers and other equipment back in the late 80's, we built quite a lot of "one off" stuff for Scott and McKenzie, to name a couple.
He's still there now, allbeit on a much grander scale...... he's now the boss of his own pub/club/restaurant fitting company with about 30 employees working for him, owns a couple of the local boozers too.
If you want his contact details PM me, I wont put them on an open forum for obvious reasons.
