Hi

I've had a lot of requests this year for novelty tunes, particularly at weddings. I always like to play these songs as they tend to be family favourites and floor fillers.

eg

Peter Sellars - Right said Fred
Chuck Berry- My Dind a ling
Fiddlers Dram - Day trip to Bangor
Wurzels - Combine Harvester
Spitting Image - Chicken Song
Paper Lace - Billy Don't be a hero
Toy Dolls - Nelly the Elephant

the list goes on.

anyone else noticed this. If so what were you asked for?

Absolutely they have their place but its different for each country, here in norway we have some but i was discussing this with dj weeble who has moved to Oslo and arrived at the conclusion that things like black lace and cha cha slide dont work here.

We are really lucky because we have about 2 swedish ones that are in swedish and 1 norwegian one and thats about it apart from macarena and that horrible rumanian thing from a couple of years back.

Yep ,I forgot about that one; The Firm i believe.
Paul Smith
Very rarely for me - I've only ever been asked for My-Ding-A-Ling & Combine Harvester and then only once for each. I did have several requests for the Cheeky Girls when they were in the charts (usually from very small children).

The Lumberjack Song from Monty Python has been requested (once) but the one that is currently being asked for at over half of my gigs is This One boff.gif
