From working on a hols site I found that when I was Djing the youngsters around 18 always wanted lots of R'n'B like Nelly Furtado, Rihanna, Beyonce etc. Try looking at the charts at the moment cant go wrong playing alot of that. However a lot of classics such as Bob Marley and some 70's music is well licked at the moment like Build me up buttercup, the best etc.
TOP 40 CHARTSGood Luck!
As posted in another thread I did an 18th on Friday

Rock & indie most of the night plus (requested (& danced to) by the 18 year olds not their parents):
Mud - Tiger feet
Ray Charles - Hit the road Jack
Chubby Checker - the Twist
Little Richard - Tutti frutti
Jerry Lee Lewis - Great balls of fire
Elvis Presley - Jail house rock
the Sonics - Do you love me (well they just asked for Do you love me & I asked which version, they said the best one. I had the Contours, Brian Poole & the Tremelos, the Kingsmen & the Sonics to choose from)
the Isley Brothers - Shout
Queen - Killer Queen & We will rock you.
Only 2 requests for R &

B all night & they were Umbrella & Crazy in love.
Full dance floor all night, finished with We go together ftom Grease & 5 6 7 8s - Whoo hoo, which they were singing one or the other of on their way out while I was packing up.
I'm still amazed by the ammount of DJs that think just because somebody is a certain age, they will like certain music. (funnily enough it's abiut the same amount as think you should only play YMCA, Kylie, Scissor Sisters, Dusty Springfield & Judy Garland at a Civil Partnership reception)
You can never generalise or stereotype any age, gender or sexual orientation when it comes to your audience. Coz you never know when that stereotype will turn & bite you on the bum. Always play to your audience not at them.
