I want to install the new upgrade to my lovely Denon HD2500.

Question : Do I have to attach the flash drive with the upgrade on it DIRECTLY to the machine, or can I attach it to the hub??

The reason is my machine is built into a console and I cant get at the USB socket without taking the HD2500 out of the console - whereas the hub is easily accessible.

Directly.

The reason for this is that some hubs, perhaps the cheaper ones, do a "poll through their ports" every so often, basically just checking whats in-use on each port. No usually a problem for some hubs, but others do that action so slowly (in relative terms) that it can stop data transfer, albeit briefly.

However, firmware upgrades aren't a very very regular occurance, especially with the DN-HD2500 doing so much already.

I've just read this thread so it's probably too late this time, but you can get a USB extension cable which you could plug into the unit and have it loose at the back of the rack for any further updates or if the hub stopped working during a show you could plug an HD directly into it.
