Had a quick look at some of the live earth performances before going off to work (its good doing a club where i dont start till midnight) .I saw Metallica and the red hot chilli peppers and thought how much higher standard there was over their performances compared with a lot of other acts, they created a brilliant aptmosphere and i was almost jumping up and down on the sofa! Anyone else see them ?
Paul Smith
I saw Metallica & the BBC cut away before the end of their set. I understand that the Black Eyed Peas were really good and did see the Pussycat Dolls & Madonna who both put on tremendous shows. I recorded most of the event as I was out (weren't we all) so still have some 5 hours worth to wizz through.

I'm not sure if the event itself will make a big impact on global warming though 533.gif

i didnt see a lot of the concert yesterday, but sounds similar to last week daina's concert where i thought the older bands were a lot better live than the newer artist.

not a patch on live aid in 1985.

Thought The Foo Fighters stole the show - everybody seems to love Dave Grohl. And, as a fellow drummer, I like him too!

Watched some live earth and zipped through the Diana concert.

The two artists that got the crowd going imo were Rocking Rod and The Quo.

Fergie, PDiddy Kanye etc a bit dull.

The old buggers can still work a crowd.

The only bit I caught was David Grey and Damien Rice singing "a feisty version of Que Sera Sera that had been specially re-written to include lyrics that were to reflect the themes of the day."

The line 'the future’s not ours to see' seemed to sum things up for me.

I tuned into the beginning and Wembley seemed less than 30% full, people still filling up the stadium when veteran heavyweights Genesis was doing their 3-track opener - felt pretty sorry for them that the venue seemed so empty.

I'm not sure how much the central message was put across. A lot of the celebrities themselves didn't appear particularly clued up ... e.g. had to laugh when Black Eyed Peas were in interview with Jonathan Ross and, asked if they thought it was a good idea if people downsized from their 4x4's, the lead rapper replied something like "For sure yeah, I'm planning to blow up my Hummer" laugh.gif

If you didn't see Chris Rock & Ricky Gervais in interview (and don't object to them too strongly), check out this clip (after the first bit of Gervais on stage) :

I pray that ... this event ends global warming the same way that Live Aid ended world hunger

Good job really as I don't think it was meant to be.

We went to Wembley on Saturday and it was an awesome day, apart from Spinal Tap who to me seemed pretty pointless all the artists were pretty good.

Even Corinne Bailey Rae (who I'd planned my food, beer and toilet break for) impressed me live.

Snow Patrol, Chilli's and Razorlight were excellent live but Dave Ghroll and the Foo's totally stole the show....they were awesome.

We noticed how late people were coming in as well, it wasn't until very late in the afternoon that the stadium looked pretty full.

Yep i am sure genisis were really upset that not more people came as they put the fat cheque into their back pockets and beat a hasty path to the nearest bank ! Actualy there are probably a million concerts that this was not a patch on and the iraq war is not a patch on ww2 and i am just off to join the other victor mildrew forum rolleyes.gif
