I'm not planning to nip out to the late shop and let virtual DJ do the work kid.gif but I would like to be able to have a rest during the buffet and let Virtual DJ trawl through an easy listening playlist, while the guests digest their quiche and garlic bread.

Has anyone managed to do this successfully? Setting fade time to zero sounds horrible, as track A completely fades before track B starts. With fade time set at 0.2, Virtual DJ appears to fade track A earlier, but chops the beginning of track B off!. I can't disengage the crossfader - tried various settings in the config menu. Also, and this sounds horrendous, it occasionally tries to Automix the two decks together with no accounting for taste.

I've looked on the Virtual DJ help forum, it seems other have had similar problems but I can't see any work arounds. I'm hoping a working DJ has found the solution.

In the meantime, I'll use Winamp during the buffet. rolleyes.gif

If Virtual DJ can't do it have a look at OTS DJ
UKHero
OtsDJ is perfect for seging tracks together nothing else on the market comes close unless you go in to radio broadcast software like Myriad or Enco....

The other way round it is to record about 40 mins and save as one file that you can call up.. Problem with that is you cant select the tracks for each individual gig... Most software and all HDC units can not seg songs correctly except for OtsDJ... but it is quite expensive now I got mine when it was only £67 and have never looked back.....

Ots, have left it unattended for over 24 hours.

The old PCDJ red (5.2/3) fades tracks ok. I often use that for background music (when feeling lazy). Never got it to work correctly with Virtual DJ..

hmmm :S
I assume you've been into config and altered the settings for crossfading, I'm not entirely sure what you want to do, but as for an auto playlist drag and drop tracks to the right of virtual dj and this should just auto play what you've added, save as playlist for us again :)

Heres my setup as i use them ... if i want to let it run for half hour then i just add aload of tracks and let it play :)

If you want i'll do some screen shots on how i do it :) Let me know :)

PCDJ FX VRM will certainly 'autoplay'.

I use it to supply music before the 'off'....just point at a folder/list and engage shuffle. The auto xfade works fine.

Works brilliantly during trough time the food as well!

PCDJ will do shuffle play or list autoplay right IF you set the configuration settings right, are there similar settings on VDJ?

I can't quite figure out if the above comment is meant seriously or not! If you give a piece of software like OTS or PCDJ a big enough playground then (in theory) it will play unattended until you stop it from doing so!!!!

I don't know if you already have Virtual dj yet, if you have then this post is a complete waste of time! IPB Image
With Traktor you can set up a playlist at home, edit, trim, beat match, whatever for any length of time you want from two to two thousand tracks (hell of a buffet break!). Then at the gig select the playlist and put it into 'autoplay' and it will play deck A, deck B, deck A, deck B for the whole length of the playlist.

The longest I've done was about an hour and forty minutes for the New years eve after midnight bit. Started with the countdown, Big Ben, all the old knees up malarky and loads of silly stuff, worked a treat.

Of course you can always stop it whenever. I use the autoplay just about every gig I do for 'pit stops' a couple of tracks loaded and off I skip to the loo. IPB Image

Yeah, I was being serious lol. Some have said that OTS is fine at playing by itself and other programs are crap. I was just curious what OTS has that other programs or something like the HD2500 doesn't ?

i didn't give OTSDJ a chance cos it looked crap... (dated looking interface)

seems pretty popular though!

Hi I'm having the same problem with virtual dj v5. Its a really good package as it plays karaoke files and music videos but I cant get it to mix from deck to deck(auto) is beyond me. I'm currently using bpm studio which is superb for mixing and auto cross fading but doesnt let you play video's or cdg!!

I need help and probably medical....

Then you missed out, because I've been using it for 2 years and it's been magnificent. I'm yet to find anyone who's bought it complain about its performance.
Robster
I have used software called virtual dj studio which is nothing to do with atomix product where you build a playlist and it auto fades good enough for my purposes it does get caught out occasionally with certain tracks but on the whole is ok
