Always give me great pleasure playing this top tune from 1983. A real buzz in the crowd when I play this, people turning back the years. A forgotten follow up to uptown girl.

yes that's what i like about it. one of those tunes which was popular at the time, but remains a floor filler today. like any track, you need to play it at the right time!

Good track and well received at Karaoke gigs. thumbup.gif

I would imagine that the type of crowds / audience you perform in front of are probably not big Billy Joel fans - they may recognise Uptown Girl and perhaps River of Dreams or maybe even 'We didn't start the fire' so can appreciate and understand if you haven't played it.....
Have you ever heard it?
C.S
yes i have heard it and i have had it for many years i just dont think its one of his better songs so i dont use it.

Funny how we all have differing musical tasted for one of his upbeat disco tunes I think it is one of his best much better than Uptown Girl... But from a non disco point of view he has done some much better work..

Always a woman to me, My Life and Movin Out to name a few of my faves

biased, from a pro?
C.S
Absolutely didnt get the biased comment Norfolk 533.gif Am only semi pro now but since 1974 i have played just about every kind of music going and how on earth you think i am biased to billy joel when i say i like and use "my life" and "piano man" i just dont understand. I have also used "new york state of mind", "just the way you are","movin out "and "its still rock n roll to me" but "Tell her about it "does not work for me -thats it and yes i am a club dj but i cant think of any kind of mobile gig i havent done.
RobbieD
A great tune. I must admit that I haven't played it for a year or two, so must dig it out again.
otronics
Great song but don't even have it so never played it.

I bet We Didn't Start The Fire would go down well too - got it on LP here - may stick it on the turntable!

In fact, he has had loads of songs and albums over the years...too many to mention.

It was a joke old mate. You were very much drawn into it.

You said you didn't use it. Didn't know whether you meant - I don't like it so it won't play it regardless, hence bias joke or it didn't work when I played it, so I won't try it again.
C.S
I meant what i wrote ! It doesnt work for me here in Norway which means i have tried it probably more than once and it didnt work, so i dont use it. didnt seem like a joke and i didnt feel drawn anywhere but i now am biased to all billy joel tracks and wont be playing them ever again rolleyes.gif

Sorry CS, my East Anglian sense of humour i'm afraid.
Yes there are some artistes that i don't want to play. 20 cent is absolute s..t as general function music. In fact anything new and rapping goes down like a lead ballon.

Club music is a no-no for the average function jock unless it charts then that's fine. So C.S I am and always have been biased.

I will play absolutely anything for money ,not biased at all except of course to billy joel ! Love a lot of older tracks but feel that the newer music is good and neccessary to drag our industry out of the smashie and nicey image ! On this forum we seem to be all for the newest technology, we have the latest media to play the oldest music ! When it comes to music a lot of djs are stuck in the 70s/80s(nothing wrong with that if you only do specialist gigs), its time to move on,onwards and upwards and all that.

Played "It's Still Rock'n'Roll to me" last night and I was amazed at just how many people I could see/hear singing along to it.
