Plenty of Northern Soul requests this year requested upfront and particularly on playlists and very popular with the punters. Particuarly at weddings.
Very enjoyable to do a nice 20 minute set.
Anyone else noticed this increase interest?

saying that it is still big around the country. check out the site soulsource it is dedicated to northern and rare soul but they are all vinyl heads (how it should be imho) and the prices for one single would buy a stunning dj kit

Johnny Vaughn is talking about it on his Breakfast Show on Capital, so I guess that raises awareness which affects us!

to call it a revival is really a bit of a misconception it has never died.
if you do a google for northern soul you will get 1000's of hits for uk sites clubs and venues.
it is still very big business.manships records, the rare soulman, does a booming trade online as does ebay when it comes to northern soul.
my pal john has a box of vinyl worth maybe upwards of 250K,for one box of vinyl!!!!!!!!!!???????
full of studio masters and un released motown and advance promos that never left the factory. rare as hens teeth and worth a bomb.
the rabid collectors of NS seek out rare 60's american soul with a dance beat and to discover a record ,as in do i love you (indeed i do), is concidered the apex of the scene. many a record was covered up when first outed to protect the identity and keep it exclusive to the dj that "found it"
any northen soul queries i will be glad to point you toward the answers.
another aspect of the scene was the clothes. thats another subject tho
personally i am still a ben sherman freak. rofl.

I'm not sure it has ever gone away either. I think perhaps people don't ask for it very often because either they think the DJ won't know or have any, or that they will be in the minority and could be embarrased if their request is annonced and everyone walks off the dance floor.
I frequently play a couple of NS tracks, particularly if I spot someone doing NS type dancing to another tune.
