I think you may need an old school lappy with a proper serial port. Pick up a 486 for a £5!

Well if its any use, i reckon ive got a rs323 com port isa card kicking about somewhere, However being isa i doubt that would fit a newer machine.

I agree with brian, buy a cheap laptop?
If not go back to maplins get your money back and buy a cheaper one from say skytronic?
the silver ones, Im looking at a purchase of the skytronic one soon, seem ok for me,
cant warrant spending 100notes on one when i can get one for 40 notes from skytronic.

again, just my views.

Are these moving signs any good?

Does anybody else use them?

What' your opinion?

Think they look tacky IMHO.

Would book anyone who had one myself.

I used to have 1 i bought from an auction (multi colour pro thing) however i sold it , i think they add something different, to display the "happy birthday" message or congratulations or even a advert for yourselfs,

I assume these are LED

I have had good reports about mine only problem is it takes forever to change the message. I can not find any of the laptops with that port on it if someone could help that would be great

I purchased one of these a while back when I was programming AMX systems HERE its basically a usb to RS232 convertor.
Tonsk
I use one... Which does connect to my PC/Laptop...

I always explain it to the hirer before hand and only one in over 100 gigs has asked me not to use it....

It displays any message I want it to, and if it's a kids party, then it shows all their names in attendance (kids love this)...

Mine cost £100 about 3 years ago... Well worth it in my opinion...

I use one boff.gif

I have mine mounted onto the lighting bar inbetween the effects and it receives positive comments. The clients have their names in lights and it displays other messages as well.

I pre-program mine using an older computer because my laptop won't do it.

I like the idea of using one. I think the larger version would be better.
