Hi folks
I saw the post about eyeball globes in another area of this forum, but wanted to ask what the heck one is.
As most of you will know, I'm blind so a good description of what it actually does would be great.
Thanks folks

It's actually quite difficult to explain, as I've tried explaining what it is a few times to potential clients.
It's globe shaped, and displays animations (gif & avi files) and animated messages. Many of the effects are very eye catching and seem to entrance many people on the dancefloor who end up almost hypnotised by it.
To the eye it seems that the iBall spins round backwards & forwards, but this is just a trick of the eye and it doesn't actually move, but the animations are moving rapidly in different directions.
Not the greatest of explanations, but hopefully you'll have some idea of what it is now!

Hi
Thanks for that, sorta understand where ya comin' from...a couple a questions come to mind.
1. do you need a pc to hook it up to or are the images dumped into it from an outside source.
2. so it's like a eyeball shaped monitor? hahahaha
I'm thinking it's a promector the wrong way round, you view the effect from the thing itself rather than it projecting on to walls ceiling etc.
confusion unlimited, I appear to be the company director.

The images have to be loaded in from a pc, but once they're loaded the iBall can be disconnected from the pc.
Before each gig I'll load the animations and special messages on my home pc, and then bring the iBall to the gig with me. So I'm not actually able to add any messages during the gig, unless I wanna hook it up to a pc.

Sort of! It's almost like a TV set, but the images can be seen all the way around the globe. But the images can't be projected onto a wall etc.

Hi again
So let me get this firmly fixed in my skull...it's like a clear globe, a bit like a crystal ball? So you can see whever, animations, messages from all angles, as if they're appearing in mid air?, like a hologram.
Sorry to be a pain on this one, I'm just fascinated.

Yes, it is very much like a description of a Crystal Ball. The images are not projected into mid air as such, they seem to reflect and appear within the material of the actual globe.
So the patterns and text appear to be revolving around the surface of the globe itself.
If you've ever come across the description of a plasma ball, where lightening like beams shoot out from a central point from within the actual ball to the plastic surface, then this is very close to how the text and patterns get projected from an I-Ball.
The scrolling of the text is very smooth, and of course the surface of the actual I-Ball increases the size of the text slightly and its curved surface makes it appear that the text is rotating around the globe.
Hope this helps

Hi
Thanks for that, sounds like a nice bit of kit...will have to pray hard for a year or three.
