Hi Gary....

I knew you would be one of the first people to read this so...

The Denon DN-HD2500 doesn't seem to play .aac files from Apple's famous iTunes program.

Is this correct? - The problem is that loads of people download from iTunes!

Erm, if this is true, what is the solution?

The Denon DN-HD2500 supports both the major music file types. WAV and MP3

There are no plans to support the various other slightly different file formats which have sprung up over the years, each of which have their own pluses and minuss (for some). Some of those uppers and downers prevent full support of all DJ functions, or create processing overheads, which again can be detrimental to some DJ functions.

You may need to look at conversion of files from other formats, to mainstream MP3 or WAV, or of course, look into some of the alternative download sources, other than itunes.

I really think denon's attitude to apple is rather odd. Firstly they have no plans for the product to run on a mac which puts many mac users off this product. Now they can't do an update to make it run acc files. Isn't i tunes the most popular source to download tracks so shouldn't this be one of the file types it should be able to play

iTunes sells protected files intended for consumer use in portable iPods.
MP3 and wav formats have been adopted by the DJ community as the standard codec for the last 5-years.
Those are the two formats that the HD2500 supports.

iTunes has an option to convert all your AAC files to mp3 if need be.
The most popular place to download dj tracks is: www.beatport.com
They sell, mp3 and wav files.

Oh yes, I can see myself downloading loads of stuff from there each week for all the weddings 30ths & 40ths that I do.

You'll already have tracks for those sort of functions though steve, wontcha?

Whilst beatport is good for upfront tunes etc, I find that Woolworths and the highstreet record store name (hmv, virgin megastore etc) download services offer better ranges of tunes for multi-age audiences. All their files seem to be favouring the mp3 formats.

there is no reason for denon to make the unit run .acc (mp4) becuase its only Ipods that use this format..

the itunes software will convert to mp3 just tick the box.. so no problems there...

and the denon unit does work with a mac just drag and drop the files onto the denon and create the database...

just becuase the denon music manager software is for PC does not mean the unit wont work with a mac..

its only Itunes who use .acc / mp4 no other down load service does this... so its not the denon thats out of place its apple...
