Interesting to know which ones of the old PWL music remain popular today. They produced music for a wide range of artistes. The ones which I continue to play fairly frequently are:

Never gonna give you up - Rick Astley
Love in the first degree - Bananarama
Venus - Bananarama
This time I know it's for real Donna Summer
Right back where we started from - Sinitta

Any other claasics which remian popular?

If anyone ever asked me for Cliff I'd probably just refer them to either the nearest home for the elderly or the nearest psychiatric unit rolleyes.gif

I think your doing them a diservice, PWL had a huge influence on the club scene with the hitman and hit her, I'd come in from working the clubs and sit and watch it because you knew that next week the punters would asking for songs they'd seen on the programme the week before. 900 number I believe was premiered on there, Timerider - Cocoon was a massive song at the time, Hazell Dean, Matt Bianco, The Five Star remixes, Sybil both "The Love I Lost" and "When I'm Good And Ready" were remixed by PWL, although I do prefer the jewels and stone mix of When I'm Good and Ready. A guy called Gerald which was norman cook in another guise was also one of their finds.

They also had some great stuff on the gay scene which then filtered down to the mainstream - Hannah Jones - In The Name Of Love and Young Hearts Run Free to name just too

Its easy to disparage them, but they had a massive influence on both the pop and the club scene at the time.
Andy Westcott
Too Many Broken Hearts - Jason Donovan is another.
Was that one of theirs? Certainly sounds like it is.

I love these songs - classic cheese, and therefore extremely useful tools. smile.gif

I take it that you are and have always been a club DJ from your response?

Nothing wrong with Sir Cliff. Although I don't play alot of his stuff, Look for yourself at his at his track record . He is one of the most successful artistes the UK has produced, and yes he ' I just don't have the heart' was indeed popular in 1989. Somewhere I have the original single.

PWL were responsible for dance floor fillers particularly from 1984 -1991.

Your response to be honest worries me somewhat. I like anykind of music be it country, jazz, clasical. I don't mind what I play as long as the punters like it. Maybe that's my age!

Classics-yes some are. But that's my job, pleasing wide range of clients as possible.

I had heard that the Highways Agency had undertaken some major investment in new roads, so I guess they must have finished that new sense of humour bypass in Norfolk whistling.gif

Roads - what are they?

Bypasses - something to do with operations.

We have mud tracks with potholes here.

Our road system is 20 years behind the UK, rather like our music. Is Elvis is around?

2 Unlimited - Get ready for this

Nothing wrong with a bit of SAW

Some of the stuff I played on Friday nite which still goes down well

Sonia-Never stop you
Kylie-Better the devil/Never too late
Reynolds Girls-I'd rather jack...
Cliff Richard-I just

and Roadblock(still a great song!)

SAW produced well produced popular dance music, and the Hitman and Her show was huge in N.Ireland, The North West of England(where most of the programmes were recorded) and Scotland and Wales plus it was fun:)

Here's a couple of clips thats should bring back some memories

Nobody said it was, it was brought up by me as one of the 2 PWL /SAW acts that I would personally give the time of day to.

If I inadvertently brought your thread off topic, then I apologize most profusely.

(BTW shouldn't that be Don't think?)

Roadblock - top tune from 1987. Very big on the club scene. Clever track and fooled alot of people.

At Chrissie-mas time was pestered by a very camp, very excited punter who insisted I play Gina G- Oo Ah (just a little bit) a minimum of 5 times, as well as everything in the whole S.A.W. collection.

BLINDING NIGHT!!!! omg.gif

Hit Man and Her , what a great show like many othersd used to watch it after a Saturday Night gig. Remember the guy who couldn't dance ... Ghostbuster I think he was called. I still have most of the SAW stuff on 12" in the loft.

SAW original cd's are highly sought after. A pal of mine got £40 for a 1989 album.

At least it was disco friendly, unlike some of this RnB rubbish ! sad.gif

I'm surprised Mastermix haven't done a Grandmaster SAW???

(What's the odds on the next post saying they already have) oops.gif:

SAW music in most of its form ... is still very popular with the middle age and older clients

I do end to find that the younger DJ's and the Club DJ's will find it disstatefull, and they have a different market to work for.

As for the humble mobile DJ, this is our bread & buteer ... cheese classics.....

Years back ... i had the fortunate opertunity to work with the Hitman & her on a gig....
Manic... unplanned & definatley FUN
remember WIGGY the lead dancer... he is still dancing in the clubs !!!!
bigMCben
I thought the lead dancer was Clive, the black guy with the white wig.

superstardeejay
Yes but he was more commonly known as Wiggy....for those regulars who stayed up late because college meant I didn't have to get up for the school bus anymore!!
