I'm writing on behalf of a friend who wants to develop his DJ skills. He's sixteen, based in London, needs wheelchair access, and we are looking for a daytime activity for him. Clubs? Projects? Colleges?[FONT=Arial][SIZE=7][COLOR=blue]

Hi John
I'm in London, and I cant really say that I know anywhere, I done a quick search and came up with a place in Eltham SE9, but I dont know if it's wheelchair accessible!
I remember seeing dj workshops somewhere being held during the summer holidays for ages 13-18 but cant seem to remember where.

Ok to carry this on a little further I have emailed TARP which is the organization suggested by Paula, asking for further details of location ,access, etc. I have also asked that if they feel like it they can join and post direct to the forum or they can reply to my email address whichever suits.

Here is the reply I received this morning from TARP, I don't know if it helps you at all but a phone call to Jennifer may be of use. If we can be of any further help then please ask, but certainly keep us informed of your progress. Perhaps your friend may like to also join us here in the forum for moral support if he has access to a pc?

Hi Tony,

Our DJ course outline is on our website – www.theartreachproject.co.uk.

Our courses are suitable for beginners right through to advance and are for 13-19 year olds.

The project is based in Eltham in South Greenwich and the building we use has good disabled access for wheel chair users.

If you require further information you can contact me on the number below or use e-mail

Kind regards

Jennifer :0)

dear spindoctor,
Thanks to you and other contributors for your information. This looks very promising - infact something of a lifesaver!

Excately what the forum is about I think.

It would be worthwhile also making sure that the people holding the course are aware that one set of equipment should be at a height suitable for a wheelchair user.

Most DJ booths/desks I've played in would have everything at about forehead height of a person sitting in a wheelchair.

I would hope that in this day and age if they are running courses of this type, probably government funded that they would have to take this into consideration. However I did point out in my email to them that he needed wheelchair access so I will leave it to John to follow it up.
