I DO NOT want to get people into a Iam better than you because I have more gigs I just intrested in how far in advance people book, as I took a disco last week, only for February but she had rang a DJ who didn't take booking that far in advance.

I've marked the 10 to 15 bracket.
Some are through the Golf Club where I am their first choice, some are private bookings, mostly weddings or 40th birthdays, and a couple are through my agent.
I have not included the Christmas 2004 dates, which I have been given on a 90% certain-to-go-ahead basis, but there are 12 of them also.
I have even got one for 2005.
I have no problem booking in advance and much prefer like all of us a full diary rather than hoping that the dates will fill up during the year and then not working as no call came.

Totally agree with you, plus if you take a deposit for a wedding a year in advance the couple might split up and you then have a deposit AND a empty date.
I also have one booking for 2005 too.

I also have a couple for 2005 booked up, one of which is getting a blinding deal because he booked it in Jan 2002!!!!!!!!! I quoted him a price then, based on my normal prices because he booked it so far in advance. Trouble is time we get to it he is going to be paying under the odds........ but my word is my bond!

I think it is purely down to the organiser or venue. Obviously weddings and corporate events have a great deal of planning and booked well in the future.
Birthday parties, especially 18th and 21st are booked very last minute. What seems to happen if someone has an 18th birthday early in the year then it set a precident for all their friends to follow.
Childrens parties seem to be even more last minute. I think there is too much, "little Johnny do you want a birthdy party? What day would you like?" instead of "Johnny you can invite 25 friends to your birthday disco on sat"

Have just voted in the 15+ box.
All the bookings are mainly 1 regular venue, work - including Christmas and New Year 2004.

I would be extremely worried if I didnt have more than 15 gigs booked in for next year this late on - also, I have to contradict that kids parties are last minute events.... On average my kids parties are booked in at least 6 months before the event..... some a year before. If people want YOU to do their disco then if you have a reputation, the customer knows they have to book early... mine do - weddings booked for 2005/6 and a couple of birthdays! People who want to guarantee your services will book early!
