I know in the past it has been mentioned several times about the legal stance of playing copied/made from downloads cds, but what is the legal stance of playing legally bought cds.

The reason for the question is that on cds it mentions prohibiting 'Public Performance', but isn't this what doing a disco for a night is!!

What is the situation with this, or is it just as illegal as copying the cd.

Waiting to hear your thoughts.

Often, but not always, the venues themselves will have a PRS licence to cover that venue for public performance of copywrite music.

Heres a link, which although focussing mainly on school/education premises, gives an idea (and more links), which may help you to narrow down any particular venue which you might be playing at in the future. eg: Bottom-of-the-road Village Hall (with its round pin plug sockets)

The church seem to have a great way of avoiding SOME copyright issues...so now if you'd all like to turn to the Bass-bin shaped fonts, and all join me for that well known hymn "Ride on Time" by Blackbox..... WAAAAA aaa WAAAA aaa...
