Does anybody have any decent Rock compilations..... ? Or can recommend anything
I have a wedding next year and the B&G want rock for three hours (10-1).
I have not had their playlist yet... but they were talking everything from Clapton to Green Day.
Some I will have, some I will not.
Anybody got any "essential" cd's they couldnt do without.
Thanks

The Air Guitar CDs are worth buying.. 3 volumes and a "best of air guitar" available now.
They can all be had for under a fiver on Amazon Marketplace.

Without knowing the playlist and without knowing what you have it's tough to recommend anything. Whilst the Air Guitar albums are OK, they're not great. Think it may be worth looking at a few greatest hits albums in the sales (Guns 'n Roses, Status Quo, Bon Jovi, etc.) but with names like Clapton on the list your collection will need to extend right back to the 60's and contain a mixture of all sorts - from Cream to Hendrix to Zeppelin to Whitesnake to U2 to Greenday to Killers and Kaiser Chiefs.
Dead Jealous of you though!

For general compilations....assuming that they want 'mainstream', rather than something a little more exotic...I would head to ANY retailer. There are many dbl and trpl cds with the standards+. If you are lucky then there are also some with less well known tracks/bands.
Personally, although this is one genre that I would be able to supply 100% if asked, I would wait until a playlist of sorts is issued, and then dload to burn from a reputable site at .60 -.80 per track. Then you would at least have exactly what they want. Any Cds bought/loaned etc. would just be the rounding off!!
Keep in touch. When you have more details, shout loudly and I'm sure we can come up with something!!!!

I think some of the power ballad cd's will compliment the occasion, for an hour anyway.
Most of them have titles such as the best power ballads in the world...ever etc.
Do a search on amazon, should bring up some gems.

don't confuse the mastermix grandmaster series with other mastermix products. They offer many unmixed cd's across many different genre's including rock with loads of good tracks. The 4 disc anthems box set looks very good and could have some of the stuff you are after

I did a gig very similar to this a couple of years ago and as I only have the popular rock stuff, this was only partly what they wanted. They brought me some of their favorite albums and marked what tracks they wanted and it was a great night. I only have a general knowledge of rock, and although I like stuff like this, don't really feel as knowledgeable and confident as say Big Ben is to fill a night with this type of music. Their choice was a great help and it was a brill gig. I am sure you will get more help on this forum, but don't be afraid of asking the B&G for some albums as I am sure they will feel that you are doing it for their advantage - mick
