Are the par 64 lamps only available in 1000w? My sound to light unit will only take 1000w max per channel.

Have you considered in-line dimmers, between the back of the controller, and the PAR-cans. Even 4 (high powered) dimmers mounted on a block of wood, could do the trick.
Alternatively, (still fresh in mind from PLASA). You could also consider the LED array replacements for PAR lamps. OK they are about 5 times the cost of ordinary PAR lamps, but they'll last "forever", are less fragile, AND use a fraction of the current of their traditional filament predecessors.

Yes, the Par 64 are only available in 1000W versions. However you may also like to consider the Par56 which is the smaller counterpart of the Par64's and the lamps are rated at 300 Watts.
1000W is a hell of a lot of power in a light and more often used for stage lighting (Drama) and Groups in large venues and outside events

. What are you doing which needs that level of output?.

Hi Chris, the reason I'm after some par64s is I was given some old cans from the nightclub where I work they have the lamps still in them although like I said earlier they're too big for mobile work. So I painted them black and bought some 300w par 56 lamps instead, only they fall through the case because of the difference in diameter. I've rung the company where I got the lamps from and they told me you can get 500w par64 lamps but not sure where from. Thats why I thought you might be able to help.

Hmm, never heard of 500W versions of Par64, but I could be wrong, since I have catalogues from several lamp suppliers, and rarely progress beyond the A1/259 lol.
Let me have a look and get back to you.
I Had the same problem, so i used daylight reflectors which alow the use of convensional lampsthe g base of somthing like that. Any way they come in loads of different wattages as they are used for theatrical lantanes.
Have fun...

hi gary do you have any more info on these led lamps as im buying a whole new lighting rig and want to really loose my light screens
Thanks for all replies, just to reach a conclusion on my part of the thread, I managed to get hold of some reflectors which push into the original fitting and then have the facility to put a 500w halogen lamp into a socket in the middle of the reflector, simple!!!!

Please note that you can get 500w Par 64 lamps, and if I remember the code is a CP86/CP87/CP88 VNSP NSP MED, and yes these are Bubble lamps the same as CP62 etc etc.
