hi quick question doing my first new year disco havnt done one before always spent it with wive but this year shes letting me out by myself

would like some insight to what version of Auld Lang Syne should i play or rather what is expected or do some of you play nothing and let everyone just do the singing for you ??

also while im asking that ive got quite a few happy birthday songs but they seem so rubish when someone asks me to put one on i try telling them that it always sounds better if i just start them of

do you start everyone of singing happy birthday or do you have a favorite happy birthday song that works well

thanx very much in advance

Personally i use the 'BIG BEN' jingle at 12 oclock... having stirred up a bit of nonsense (crowd counting down to midnight etc) then followed on by a dancey version of old lang syne ... which i think is on one of the mastermix volumes (cant think of the artist of the top of my head).... But certainly dont bring in the new year without some excitment ! rolleyes.gif

For Auld Lang Syne and Happy Birthday( I use the Stevie Wonder version) check out the Mastermix site, full of useful CD Comps for the working DJ!

I know this will sound silly but I've never had any complaints - I use the Chas n Dave version as it's a right old knees up. I then follow it saying "and now traditionally" and play the proper version.

I think it's the Festive Singers, or something like that that i use, although only for a couple of minutes before going into "Best years of our lives" by Modern Romance. Works for me....(usually).... 533.gif

I perfer a traditional version (rather than a dance version).

Unfortunately I can't remember what version it is. I recorded it from an album on to my own NYE CD several years ago, and have only maked it as Auld Lang Syne.

I don't have it at all, so if I do do a gig I will be relying on the crowd (Unless someone has it on CD they could let me have....

You could even consider a LEGAL download service, for approx 79p per download. A small price to pay 071.gif

another question about Auld Land Syne

ive noticed the first verse and chorus to be the same on most versions however after the chorus ive seen 20 different versions

so do you play your version in its entirity or just the first verse and chorus like what TonyB does with his version from Ultimate Cheese Party Box Set which lasts 47 seconds

thanx in advance for your insight
