Well it's getting to that time of year again, Chr

mas. Sorry, I can't bring myself to say it. My first dinner dance is on 25th November, yes November. Now I sometimes have a wee sing-a-long when we don't have a lot of people, or they're a bit slow to dance, and I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions for some different sing-a-long songs. The ones I currently use are:-
The Wonder of You.
Great Balls of Fire
Living on a Prayer
Delilah
Roamin' in the Gloamin'
I Love a Lassie
Keep Right on 'til the End of the Road
Lily the Pink
Basically, what do you sing along to when you're pi
ed???

I have various bits n bobs scattered allover the place but what I'd like is a cd of stuff like as mentioned above (not chacarron!) like Maybe its because i'm a londoner, roll out the barrell etc and also another one of big band stuff and crooners too.
Can anyone name some collections that I should purchase. A tracklisting would be cool too?
I have the main ones but as I said, they are all over the shop.

I picked up a triple cd from ASDA which is great for big band sound.
It's called Hits Of The Forties and has classics from Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Jimmy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman and Benny Goodman among others. It also has Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Dinah Washington and The Andrews Sisters.
54 tracks for under £5, you can't go wrong.

Fly me to the Moon (Tesco's 'exclusive')
Songs That Got Us Through WW2 (Various)
Sean Wilson - Keep On The Sunnyside (Various).....100 tracks (tho' not all of them are known to me)
I think the point is that given a large HMV, Virgin etc. there are loads of these things out there.
Mine main problem is that I tend to look for 'original' recordings, and thats where any historical compilation falls down (unless you are v. careful), they tend to have a (very) small piece of text that says something along the lines of: some of these recordings are rerecorded, or taken from a live...etc

Thanks guys. I must admit that I always have a look through the bargain bins when I go to Asda or Morrisons and it's good what you can find. Picked up the best of Brand New Heavies the other day for 99p and also a best of Meatloaf which was priced wrongly at £3.39.
I'll have a good look around for the ones you've mentioned above so cheers again!
