OK...I might as well jump right in.

First, be kind I am a newbie...but willing to learn!

What is the best way for me to help promote DJs at clubs (locally and in other cities): New York, Miami, LA, London?

Here is what I have considered:

1. Cold Calls to Clubs - I thought about just calling the various clubs and introducing myself as DJ Promoter and ask them if I could send them a CD for a DJ to review.

2. Going to Clubs - I also considered just going to some clubs and bringing a few CDs with me and meeting the owner or general manager to see if I could get my DJs onto the turntables that way.

3. E-mail - Sending an e-mail inquiring about getting one of my DJs CDs heard...thought of that as well.

4. Interview Set - Taking a DJ with me after making arrangements to have them perform a set for the owner or general manager.

My big fear is that if I do not approach this process correctly the whole thing will go pear shaped and I won't get another chance to get one of my DJs CDs heard.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

What do other guys near you do ?, try and do the same sort of thing but in a different way, maybe a CD business card with the DJ working on it, and of course you details.

Take a Dj,call a club owner and arrange a meeting, offer to do a free set of an hour on a quiet night. As a former club manager i would never hire people on the basis of a tape or cd because anyone could have done it.So my suggestion to you is get in their faces until you get a reputation for providing good djs and then they will come to you.Make sure that your djs look the part and that their work is good, time is valuable so when your dj gets the chance he has to be able to deliver the goods immediately

Thanks DJcs59...That sounds like the best way to go...As I have already dropped off a few Demo CDs and am awaiting some kind of response...

I like the in your face idea....

I'll give it a shot.

Thanks again,
