Audiences are great at coming up and saying..."OI! mate" (or Oi luv! if you're a lady-DJ, or DJ'ing in the Blue Oyster Bar

) "you got some.....?"
...and then mentioning their type of music... normally a type of music thats SO likely to clear the dancefloor, you only want to play it during the buffet, when they're all too busy eating anyway...
So, for this thread...lets mention a genre (style) of music...and then all put some answers/suggestions down, for a track that we would play, that would fit the description.
For the sake of this exercise, we'll assume that the audience will truely have enough fans of each suggested genre, to make it worthwhile playing about 10 songs (ish) of each genre.
Every so often on this topic, once you've seen quite a few answers to each genre...post up:
***** "OI mate....got any....." ******
and then add in a genre thats not been mentioned already.
Here goes....

Did you mean the Tight Fit "Back to the 60's" album or their 12inch?
I use the 12inch quite frequently, but I always play the "B side" to escape those voice overs... "Wham bam ala kasam" etc..etc..etc...
Gary
Sep 3 2003, 01:33 AM
and although this didnt start off as a mixing post....Tight fit, ends with "Mony Mony" so take that into "Roy Orbision: Pretty Woman"

Sep 3 2003, 01:37 AM
Yes I meant the 12" but i normally leave it on the A side, never heard anybody complain about the voiceovers yet even if they are a little dated.

too true Spin, Rosko is a legend, I always play the "A" side.
Moving on back to the thread......
try Uptown Festival (full version) Shalamar, (loads of Motown covers all in 9 minutes) sensationial as Tony Blackburn (another legend) would say..

I never travel with out the 'Back to love' discs.
Big fan of the Hed Kandi stuff in general. Now most of my music purchases are focused on my "mobile" collection, I use the Hed Kandis to get my fix of soulful house & garage.
I do miss sifting through a pile of tunes in deepest darkest soho.

The post on Hed Kandi, reminds me that Saturday night radio in the South East is awful except for Jazz FM, on the way to gigs try Tony Blackburn's real Party Music (yess that Tony Blackburn from Clasic Gold!!) where he gets out some of those classics he used to play on BBC Radio London back in the 80's and on the way home try Hed Kandi show (from 1:00am) on the one and only Jazz FM
I am sure that these shows are also relayed on the North West Transmitter as well.
