Ok so saturday night am doing a birthday party.
The gentleman whos birthday it is is having a band along a carribean band between the hours of 7 and 10, They are havign breaks between the sets as any band does,
from 10pm till 2am hes having a disco from us.
Know when we are needed to play in between the sets is it best to play some reggea/dub/carribean music to keep in keeping.
Before when ive done these type setups ive known the band and theyve gave me a cd which goes down well
Whats your advice ?

If the band have been booked to set the tone for the evening then maybe. But, usually,
the DJ is there to provide a contrast.
Why not ask your client?

Contrast is good for the people who are not into what the band are playing...that said, if the client has themed the entire evening then you should stick to it. You need to speak to the client in this case.
Out of interest, if it were your party, what would you ask the DJ to do?

I would hope, a contrast, party favourites etc. Not everyone will like the one style of music, despite the hosts best intentions.
But, definately ask the host - if he wants you to keep in keeping with the band style of music all night, you'll need time to review/compile some complimentary tunes.

Just make sure you avoid anything the band are either going to play or have already played!! Enjoy!
