I have had a couple of requests for this song recently and have to admit that until today I did not have a copy.

I went out today and got a best of Dolly Parton so now I am ready to use the song to fill up the dance floor. I have seen the song mentioned a few times on here as well so I know some of you play it at gigs.

I do however have three questions:-

a) I understand that there is a dance mix of the song, do those of you that play the song use the normal version or the dance mix?

b) If the dance mix is better received where can it be obtained from?

c) What on earth do you play this song alongside, the only song vaguely like this that I would occasionally play would be dancing the nightaway by the Mavericks?
YourBigEvent
I play the original at most gigs.

I find the original 9 to 5 a great floor filler and I would normally follow it with a non-country song depending on who is dancing to it.

For example on Sat I went straight from it into December '63 - no talking, I just let one carry on from the other - and my full dance floor got even fuller smile.gif

Like anything though this song doesn't always work but it is a favourite with the ladies esp those that work from 9 to 5 (what a way to make a living wacko.gif )

I use the dance version by DJ Mastermix '9 to 5' [PWL Remix], although according to the website it's currently unavailable 014.gif

PWL remix is on mastermix 217 I think....

I've played the original a bit, but it isn't high on my list.
I see it as a good 'handbagger', a song which could be used as something to get people up in the first place.

Follow it with any other tracks from the 70s & 80s with a similar tempo - loads to choose from.

Don't think I've ever played it at a gig - probably because I'm pretty sure I don't have it on CD. Hmmm.

Good tune though, and great for a disco.

I hear Brian Mole loves it........!

071.gif Good call, I censored2.gif hate C&W with a passion, but I see this tune as a good mickey take, and on the rare occasions I have played it, it does work well for a bit of fun.

This one goes down a storm in my area. Seems to be a pretty big student anthem around here too

Played it out for the first time at a wedding on saturday night and it seemed to be well received. The girlies in particular reacted well and I got asked to play Shania Twain straight afterwards as well.

I always get asked for it. The dance version goes down well, as mentioned especially with the young ladies.
