There have been a couple of threads here on DJU recently, which have mentioned one way or another - variety.
eg: When someone says "Any Kylie mate" or "Oh, I dunno, anything by Jeff Beck" ,maybe just maybe we shouldn't automatically reach for "Cant get you outta my head" and "Hi ho silver lining".
I was reading a news story on the BBC website earlier and it mentioned the Last.FM website
Aside from the usual selling of downloadable tracks etc, it offers a very interesting insight - several in fact.
On the site, you've got the ability to type in an artist or group name, and it will show you that artists most popular tracks "last week" and "Last 6 months" in fact, Take a look at what came up when I typed in the group name "Madness"
The site even makes suggestions of other groups/artists that you (or your punters) might like, based on the original artist searched upon.
OK, true...what people may download at home, may or may not be consistant with what they'd dance to, or toe-tap to at a gig, but in a fickle profession any pointer is a good pointer (sister).
