Was listening to some Acid-Jazz stuff yesterday and it reminded me of what a great scene that was in the 90's. In the first few years I think I bought most releases on the Acid-Jazz label as well as the Talkin Loud, Mo' Wax & Dorado labels and had the entire series of compilations such as Rebirth of Cool, Talkin' Jazz, Totally Wired, Jazzmatazz and Inside (although Inside was also neo soul as well as acid-jazz).
I rarely get a chance to play any of this at gigs these days apart from some of the more commercial stuff such as Brand New Heavies or Incognito every now n then. Although a couple of years ago I did the opening of a fancy fashion gallery owned by Zandra Rhodes and they told me they wanted cool music that wasn't played on radio or in the clubs notworthy.gif I was in my element smile.gif I played tons of obscure acid-jazz and they absolutely loved it thumbup.gif There were loads of people coming up to me asking the names of various tunes.

Some of my favourite tunes from that genre were:
Sandals-A profound gas
Galliano-Prince of Peace
D'influence-The Classic
Opaz-When We're Makin Love
Esperanto-Sweet Feelings
Groove Collective-Lift Off
Max Beesley's High Vibes-Mr Jeckle

and a couple of tunes which were kinda grouped under the acid-jazz banner:
Terry Callier-If I Could Make You (Change Your Mind)
Aaron Neville-Hercules

Ronny Jordan, D'influence, Incognito & Brand New Heavies made some corkin albums during that period toot.gif

Was anyone else on here into the Acid-Jazz scene?

A bit.

I have tracks by D'Influence ( Good Lovin' is favourite ), Incognito, Brand New Heavies, Galliano, James Taylor Quartet, Us3 etc. amongst others.

I have Hercules by Aaron Neville but I think of it more as funk. The main thing, though is that I like it.
Thats entertainment
I went to see the "Brand New Heavies" in concert many years ago and they were great live cool.gif
