Hi everyone
Have a gig on Friday where the bride wants a song which she heard on Radio 2, that had the word Spacer in it (and she thinks this is the choras) that has a similar feel to Ai No Corrida.....
Any ideas?
Also, if anyone has any thoughts on tracks that go really well with Ai No Corrida (original version or new one) that would be nice - as the bride also really likes songs with a "Salsa" feel and I think this may satisfy her needs (oooh suits you!)

Spacer by Sheila B Devotion?? About 1979??

Yeah, I'd say Spacer by Sheila B Devotion too.
"He's
(2,3,4) a spay ay sir,
(2,3,4) a star cha a sir"
No doubt, there'll be a remix or two due out in the next few weeks with some foul bass compression effect ruining it.

Damn!! That was a quick response!!
Thanks for the info!! Will check it out tonight as I just realised I own that song on the Mastermix 70s nght... I thought it was a new track that she was talking about but in hindsight, she didnt mention which Ai No Corrida version she was talking about...
Thanks again!

She could also mean "Crying at the discoteque" by Alcazar which samples that track...

Think there's also some 'Ai No Corrida' remix out or coming out too....

Ahhhhh yes. Thought I heard it sometime on the radio. Come to think of it, wasn't one released (public) around November/December last year (CD Single) and a follow-up extended (or remix) version due out this year, if not already?

I was talking about "Ai No Carrida".. and surely you wouldn't have to guess what its like, being a DJ and all!
But funny none the less

For the re-re-re-re-remixed clubby-dubby version, simply add some Left to Right to left cyclic panning of the lyrics, an overly long instrumental breat 3/4's of the way through, and about 20 to the BPM.

Of course you could do all that to the orignal with your Denons live Gary.
(PS: I might finally be joining the Denon club)

Well it might be some time before I go PC, so I'm thinking I might get something that will fit in place of my CDJ500S's without needing to modify my console, give me a digital output for my DJM800, a couple of loops, and some basic scratch capability, whilst not costing too much (£275each tops). It might also be useful to be able to play two tracks in a row from the same CD without a gap, and mp3 CD's (so that I can carry more of those "just in case it gets requested" obscure tracks that never get played).

So, a pair of Denon DN-S1000 CD-decks then...
Right, back to the topic in hand

Spacer ? Anyone heard of it?
In the days of my mis-spent youth, before fat wheels were the norm on cars, we used to fit SPACERs to widen the track, and actually believed we'd souped our cars up.
Modern day chavs "eat yer heart out"
Hey, c'mon, what d'ya mean "digress"?
Can't say I'm not trying to contribute to a thread on the SPACER, dayamn!

So this blokey who Sheila is singing about lives in a dillusional world where he thinks he's a bit of metal??......
I can only assume the 'star chaser' bit has to do with alloys...

No it was definitely camp disco dance DJ's Alcazar (Cryin at the Discoteque) who remixed/covered Spacer by (french?) band Sheila-B-Devotion. I have both on 12in.
The original was released 79 but stayed in the UK chart until around Feb 80.
I used to play it in Reflex the 80's bar and people used to protest that "this Alcazar isn't 80's"...till Sheila's vocal cut in. The two tracks start exactly the same way with that reverb Piano and finger clicks.

They had to change the name of the band from Sheila & The Black Devotion for some reason

Was it to get their CD's placed infront of "Black Lace" CD's in the alphabetical racks in Our Price?

It surely couldnt have been anything to do with the word "Black", otherwise that bloke that sung "Wonderful life" would have just been called " "
.

Hmmm......
Looking at my 7" copy, it credits Sheila & B. Devotion, and yet I've seen it on a CD compilation credited simply to Sheila B. Devotion, without the '&'.
Ah well, a useless bit of information there.....
