Is there a short and a long version of this track?

I got asked for this on Saturday night (21st birthday bash) and played the version from the Best of Guns and Roses but the track went on for almost 6 minutes and people lost interest before the end (although it was very warm and the hall had no air-con).

Is there a shorter version and if so what album can I get it on?

Gary
The versions that I've got (Best Pub Jukebox album in the world II and Best Air Guitar Vol...?) both clock in at just under 6 mins.

I've set up Splice points on my CD-decks for this track. If people have Air Guitared it out of their system in the first 3 minutes, the Splice gets switched on, and about 2 minutes of "middle" gets chopped, seamlessly moving to the notable ending. Be warned though...fade it out half way through, and expect the 2 G'N'R fans halfway down the room to moan about "Oi! what about the rest of that - I was lis-ning to that I was...".

Hi mate! We have a similar issue with this track, but the air guitaring is well worth playin it. However I find that summer of 69 mixes in pretty well and this normally livens it up a bit - especially if rock is the mood of the night.

Put it down to the heat.

I've never had a problem with the length of this track, it's always held the dancefloor when I've played it

That maybe where I was going wrong.

I played SCOM as part of a three song medley with Living on a prayer played first, summer of 69 played next and then SCOM.

We're obviously all thinking along the same lines here.

Maybe playing the longest track as the last of the trio was just one rock track too many (especially on a very hot evening).

Still a great track that I will hopefully play again.

Thaks for the comments and advice everyone.

In answer to the original question, yes there are two versions of this track. The original album version, which has a longer intro and outro, and the shorter, more radio-friendly version. However, if you are a fan of the track, and air-drumming/guitar, then you will always want the longer version. sleep1.gif
