Just wondered which one you fit into.
I was in a DJ shop today and saw first hand an employee loading "DJ only stuff" onto a lappy.
I have to buy mine....

I buy mine as well. I have only got tracks on the laptop that I own the original disks for, I did have some downloads, but I have superceeded these with higher quality rips from original CDs
To this end I have not got a copy of 9 to 5 yet, as I had been unable to find a reasonably priced CD with it on, this all changed over the weekend though and I ordered a copy of Dolly's greatest hits from Amazon.
As to your poll, no I do not have a license at the moment, when I start doing enough work to justify the purchase I will, but as I have only done a few gigs at the moment and they are few and far between it would be a waste of money. As for your statement about not caring, I do care, I will endeavour to ensure that I am as legal as possible within the bounds of being realistic. The current shambles with reference to these licenses does not help.
If I did buy the license, I would not bother with the permissions, as I believe it is an absolutely absurd restriction and I have got better things to do with my life than write letters (that will in all probability go unanswered) to every Tom Dick and Sony record company.
So in answer to your question, No I have neither. Would I like to be legal? Yes, but at a time when the authorities have got their act together, and are also willing to weed out those that have no intention of complying.
Eddie.
If there was a definitive license

If you don't use a laptop, why bother adding a reply to a laptop poll.

i will be glad when the anti smoking laws come in 'cos it will give us something else to harp on about

my own feelings is if it will be policed about half as actively as underaged drinking and smoking is in my area then we have got nothin to fear
